Klavdija & Tobias

Klavdija & Tobias gave me a once in a lifetime opportunity to film their love story as they adventured around Slovenia and Austria getting married. That’s right! They got married multiple times at multiple locations! I’ll explain.

Klavdija and her family are from Slovenia, and their first wedding ceremony was the mountain top castle where her parents got married. Tobias is Austrian and, though it wasn’t too big of a journey from one country to the other, they opted to have a German language ceremony at a church just outside of Vienna. However, having many friends from NYC (where they currently reside), and having friends and family who knew English as a bridge language, they also chose to have an English language ceremony at one of the many gorgeous Viennese palaces available to them.

Thus, three weddings!

In between the first and the second and third, they took me with them as we wandered around the Slovenian Alps.

This adventure was so filled with wonder for me. From seeing the beautiful country of Slovenia (plan your next European trip there, btw. It will absolutely blow you away with its Michelin star restaurants and epic scenery, not to mention basically no tourists!) to returning to my beloved Vienna, to hanging out with two of the most genuine, caring, and truly beautiful people on this planet, I was flabbergasted by just how amazing this trip could be.

To say that this film is my masterpiece is an understatement. Klavdija and Tobias gave me complete creative control and trust to make them the perfect film, so I flexed my muscles and put a bit of my soul into their film as a thank you.

Destination weddings are tricky. They involve a lot of moving parts one might not immediately think about (not the least of which is contacting embassies to see if I need to pay a fee to film a wedding in my destination country). But if you prepare enough, if you make your checklist and get your gear packed, and you get your extra day to recover from jet lag, and you keep your immune system strong, you can come out the other side with footage and sound that you get genuinely giddy about editing. That was this one for me. I love all the films I make, yes, but this one motivated me. This one pushed me to push myself so I could finally relax, import my footage, and make art.

This one is art. This one is my masterpiece. I absolutely invite you to judge it accordingly! I’ll be waiting on the other side of the inbox when you’re ready to let me film your adventure!
